Street Talkin’ Jam and Vancouver Design Week
As a part of Vancouver Design Week, the Vancouver Design Nerds are hosted a two-phase Jam about how word-based street interventions can transform our city and preserve our cultural spaces.
JAM:
6PM, 17TH SEPT
The HIVE
128 West Hastings
INSTALL:
20TH SEPT
Railway Street
From Princess to Dunlevy
We gathered over potluck and creative juice (whatever was your poison) at the Hive on the evening of September 17th to nerd out on how we could design and create small-scale projects that change the streetscape for pedestrians through site-specific engaging typographical interventions and messaging. We also considered the endangerment of Vancouver’s cultural spaces for creatives and aimed to create work that responded to the need for reflexive and reflective action around showcasing and sustaining these spaces. We rapid-prototyped and made type-based interventions, which were then installed and showcased at Vancouver Design Week’s block party in Railtown on September 20th.
