Film Synopsis

“How do we fully engage organizations to think about the changing landscape of business, culture and society? Inspired by design thinking, this documentary grabs businessman, designers, social change-makers and unlikely individuals to portrait what they have in common when facing this ambiguous 21st century. What is design thinking? How is it applied in business models? How are people changing the world with their own creative minds? It is a call to the conventional minds to change and collaborate.”

Vancouver Design Nerds:
The Vancouver Design Nerds Society (VDNS) exist to facilitate, promote and support positive social, environmental and urban transformation by providing a platform for face-to-face creative collaboration. They design, expedite and improve civic engagement processes and techniques that, through the use of dialogue, art, design, media and other creative methods, act as innovative ways to reconnect citizens with their communities and engage them with their environment.
As a network of collaborating designers and artists, they share a desire to engage design opportunities with a spirit of creative play and to challenge the normative environment of the city. The diversity of the group enriches the design process and propels discussion far beyond the prescribed parameters of a project, revealing opportunities and unanticipated, often surprising results. Design Nerds are active in architecture, green building, urban design, public art, graphic design, industrial design, engineering, photography, sculpture, policy, sustainability, artificial intelligence, theatre, renewable energy, fashion, dance, film, community development, etc.
